Just a friendly reminder that our theme this month is Van Gogh’s Iris painting. Your design can be inspired the color palette, textures, motif, or Van Gogh himself. The theme is open to your interpretation. Here are a few picks that I found on Etsy:

January 18, 2009 at 2:02 pmHi there
I am interested in playing along here, i am just wondering… in order to be classified as an ‘art bead’, does it have to be bought or could it be one we created ourselves (as in not professional)? Would carved pendants, or etched metal, count? Do all the beads on it have to be art beads, or can some be seed beads with art beads being the main focus? Send me a quick note and let me know 🙂

January 18, 2009 at 4:52 pmHi Dale,
Here is a post on what we consider an art bead: http://artbeadscene.blogspot.com/2007/03/wikibeadia-defining-world-of-art-beads.html
Etched metal and carved pendants would be art beads. They can be ones you create and you only have to have one art bead per design to qualify.
Happy Creating!

March 27, 2009 at 1:31 amMust take a lot of patience and perseverance beading up Iris. ( Or any other art piece for that matter. Will be interesting to see how Hokusai art pieces will look with beads. )
