I came across this link the other day and now I am sharing it with everyone I know. This is a site to print out paper rulers. I don’t know about you but I probably have ten rulers in my studio and still can never find one. This link takes you to printable ones. I printed some out and taped them to my tables. Ha! My problem is solved. I have one at my computer desk because when I am listing my Etsy items, I never have a ruler to measure the size of things. I also have one on my design table for when I making jewelry. I even put one on my craft table just because. The link has all different sizes and lengths. Check it out!

September 17, 2009 at 4:02 pmThat's a great idea. I have a large quilter's cutting mat on my table which works for when I'm listing things but I stole the thin plastic ruler/page marker out of my day planner to keep on my lap work surface but the paper ruler would be so much better for that.
Thanks for the link!

September 18, 2009 at 1:34 pmAlice, that was my thought exactly. After rulers, it scissors that I loose next. Then once I really thought about it, I realized all you have to do is tie a string to them and tie it to the leg of your desk. The only problem I see, is in a pinch I would totally cut the string and take the scissors!
Let me know if you come up with something better.

September 18, 2009 at 3:24 pmWhat a superb tip, Thank you! Hmmm, was thinking that one could could print these on the backs or paper you could not use (printing boo-boos etc) and thus be a little green at the same time! LOL THANK YOU so much! ~ Ali in NS CAnada

September 19, 2009 at 12:58 amJennifer, while I might lose my scissors in amongst my beads and tools, I always know they are on my table somewhere. But, it's my kids and hubby that are the ones who like to use them and 'forget' to put them back. I like your idea about tying them to the table leg, but maybe I'll have to add some sort of alarm for when they are removed by anyone other than me!

September 20, 2009 at 3:37 amWow this is great! Thanks for sharing! I'm always looking for a ruler as well and is hard to find one that has centimeters and inches both going the same direction.
