Art Beads

Inspiration and beads from Venezia

Hello lovely ABS readers! I would like to share some of my wonderful experience in Murano, which is part of Venice Italy (AKA Venezia).  Murano is a magnificent place dedicated to the art and craft of glass blowing and more! I so enjoyed and took in every bit of Venice while I was there!!  From the mainland of Venice, there is an option to jump on a short boat ride to get to some surrounding Islands. One of them being Murano.  My husband knew how much I wanted to see that Island so we made sure we fit it in!!  I did have a limited amount of time to spend there so I was focused on leaving the Island with BEADS!!!  That is what I will show you all first!!  Although, I will say I searched about the Island hoping to find a store full of beads,(how great would that have been!?)  but beads alone were hard to find! Two of the bead strands I bought are actually necklaces that I plan to take apart and use the beads.

Here is one of the necklaces I plan to take apart and use the beads.  I love the bright colors of these flat beads!

Here is the other necklace I purchased for the beads.  These beads really intrigued me! They are something I’ve never seen before, and again bright colors.  They seem to have an etched finish. Oh I will be saving these for something special!!

I just love these little head pins! I discovered them just so randomly within one little shop that had various random items.  I love the simplicity of the solid color opaque glass, and just look at the yellow ones – how they have such a patina on the copper!!

Here are some etched seed bead strands I found and had to have.

Here are some colorful lampwork beads that I snatched up! The two in the center are hollow beads and are going to be made into earrings for me:)

Some of my beads came with these cute little tags certifying that they were indeed officially made in Murano!

Here are a couple pics of us watching some Italian men work with glass.  Did I mention when we were there it was a heat wave!  Oh my heart went out to those guys!! So fun to watch though!

Here is me and my 10 year old daughter in front of a large glass sculpture.

The old buildings took my breath away! Not a new building anywhere to be seen!  Oh I love the old!!

The old, old clay roof tops so inspired me! These photos were taken from the window of the apartment we stayed in.

The locals cover their boats when it rains.

Me on the right, Hubby on the left, our girls in the front, photo bomber on the right (beside me), and the gorgeous Venezia behind!

Gondola ride is now checked off the bucket list!

One final pic before saying good-bye to Murano.

I have so many bead ideas swirling about in my head that are yet to be made, and fully inspired by Italy!! I cannot wait to have the time to bring these ideas to life!!

Wishing you inspiration in everyday!

Terri

Wow! What a great adventure! I would love to travel there one day (must get that passport!) and it is so great that you brought your sweet daughters with and that your husband made sure to leave time for an excursion to the beautiful island of Murano! I loved all the pictures, but the one of you at the end is my favorite. Hello, gorgeous! Enjoy the day!
