Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you’ll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner.
Last week’s winner is KeRobinson! Congratulations! You have won disk beads by Humblebeads. Send an email to Heather and she will send it right out to you.
Welcome to the Studio of Cindy Gimbrone!
As the holidays approach, in the studio I’m already looking ahead to next year and the next holiday. It takes time to design and craft new beads so I always have to be looking ahead.
Here are the new beads I’ve created for Valentine’s Day. They’re made to look like old hand carved painted wood….
Are you looking ahead or just trying to keep up with the hectic schedule of the holidays?
Leave a comment and you’ll be entered to win one of Cindy’s new faux wooden heart charms.

December 11, 2010 at 1:22 pmLove the heart beads!
I never feel like I'm ahead, but then I don't really create for specific holidays either. Since I don't do a lot of shows I don't want an unsold holiday piece sitting around for another year.

December 11, 2010 at 1:27 pmOh I am definitely looking ahead! I love Christmas, and I am trying to stay in the moment as much as possible and just enjoy this time with my family. 🙂

i'm both trying to keep up with the frantic rush of the holidays..that's the part of this season i don't care for.
but also trying to think ahead
(for a change) what images and colors will be interesting for after Holidays and spring.

December 11, 2010 at 3:04 pmI haven't even looked forward to THIS holiday season! Since I am a graduate student and a teacher, I am just trying to finish the semester. So, after next Tuesday, I will be able to focus on Christmas and then the next semester.
Great hearts!

December 11, 2010 at 3:33 pmWith the last of my shows done and the Canadian mailing cut off past, I'm now winding down for the year and concentrating on family and friends.
Work wise, I'm looking forward to next year. Packaging up inventory for next year, laying out designs to photograph, filling in show applications.

December 11, 2010 at 4:14 pmI don't normally design my jewelry for specific holidays. Like Alice, I don't do a lot of shows, so Valentine's objects really don't sell well in the fall shows. 😉
I like the look of your hearts!

December 11, 2010 at 5:58 pmThose hearts are lovely!
I'm definitely looking ahead! I've only recently started selling and haven't really worried about creating Christmas items. Right now I'm thinking about spring and summer. I plan on working on ideas for Christmas next summer.

December 11, 2010 at 7:59 pmAm I looking ahead? … Only to the next couple of hours, possibly a day or two! Makes life more manageable for me. I do have short- and long-term goals, though, I think they're on my iPod somewhere 🙂

December 11, 2010 at 11:41 pmfunnily enough i am looking ahead to the new year and valentines day. I've been making jewellery for about 7 months now, and have been getting alot of interest from people, mostly i've created for my self, but i'm starting to think about holding a jewellery party in the new year, and i've got some ideas for valentines day also.

December 12, 2010 at 5:43 pmWhile I don't make my art to cater to any specific holiday, I do try to keep an eye on where my ideas are heading while at the same time enjoying the present moment I am in. Not always
easy, but I try. I do love the organic look of these new heart
beads. I think that aspect makes them desirable for use at
any time of year, not just Valentine's Day. Thanks Cindy!
Seduced by beads...
December 12, 2010 at 7:25 pmI do a little of both. I am making Christmas earrings for myself and non-holiday items for future sells. I have not started selling yet, but am building a stockpile of items to sell at a series of small craft shows we hold through out the year at my workplace, a local community college.

Enjoy the day!

December 13, 2010 at 6:00 pmI end up making seasonal beads about one week before the actual holiday date..so I'm either late for that year, or *really* early for the next. (I find it so hard to work to trends/events!)

December 13, 2010 at 11:10 pmI am so looking ahead! But for personal reasons, I await with expectation the new life that we are going to welcome into the family.

December 14, 2010 at 12:23 amI'm always looking ahead but that's the problem — I just look and don't actually DO. I have so many ideas for Christmas for my family and don't see them through. Then the next fall arrives and here are those good ideas again. Still not done. I'm hoping to be better about it this year. Really. –SallyAnderson

December 15, 2010 at 8:04 pmIt happens I am ahead, but generally so far in my life I have worked last minute. But I also think I am slowly changing. Now the jewellery making business is fairly new to me. And I have understood that if you want to have things for sale suitable for each season and holiday or event it is good to be a bit ahead of time. So that is a nice and fun challenge for myself.
I loooooove those heart beads you made! They are gorgeous! Especially the red one. Please please let me win!
