Studio Saturday with Jennifer Jangles

Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you’ll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner. Congratulations Spirited Earth, you won on of Cindy’s new faux wooden heart charms.

Welcome to the studio of Jennifer Jangles!?

Hello, Hello,

For those of you who read the Art Bead Scene regularly, you’re probably noticing a new studio. I usually post a picture of my home studio. I have worked from my home for the past 13 years. This summer it became apparent that I had to move out. Jangles had taken over the basement and the garage, it was just too much. I began the search for a new studio. After lots of looking, I finally found the right place. I moved in the first of December and got to work painting all of the bare white walls. December usually has enough going that I really didn’t need anything else to keep me busy. I got the walls painted and some tables set up to work. And we have been working, but just not on the studio.

Hopefully for my next studio Saturday I will be able to show you a fabulous studio all set up and ready for work, sales, and parties. In the meantime, I plan on resting over the Holiday break! How about you?

I would love to hear if you use the holidays to recharge and relax or are you just as stressed out when they are over. Leave me you comment and you will receive one of my new spring beads debuting in January. Here’s a sneak peek.

Happy Holidays!
Jennifer

Your new studio looks awesome! I can't wait to see it finished.

The weeks before the holidays I am totally stressed out. But once the big day is here I am totally at peace and able to relax and enjoy good food, family, and our lovely candlelight service at church. Then its smooth sailing while the kids are still home on break, and a great time for me to catch up on unfinished projects and plan for the new year.

The colors for your new spring line of beads is sweet. Can't wait for the unveiling.

Mmmmm! The new beads look exciting, nice colours! I wouldn't mind at all to win them (an understatement …).

This year has been less stressful than usually before Christmas. We are not going away and we have been more ahead with our plans, unless something will appear last minute that we totally forgot about … frightening thought. I believe everything will just continue as usual, kind of. My husband and my children have three weeks holiday each (I am kind of always available since I don't work professionally due to illness) so I feel we will be able to spend a lot of time together and do nice things with relatives and friends through the whole period. Hopefully we will get around to finish off my studio aswell. It has been only semi-finished since almost a year.

I love the Christmas! Looking forward to it.

Definitely recharging. Also, stretching some creative muscle, try some new techniques. However, lots of relaxing madness will ensue.

Looks like some great studio space! Right now, I'm just not stressing over the holidays. It's snowing, and I need finish my Christmas shopping. Instead, I'm going into my little studio space, relax, watch the snow fall and create.

We hosted our annual open house last week and this week and next, I am finishing off a number of gifts (fully expect I will making my
m-i-l`s necklace during our 5 hr car ride to visit out families) – I am looking forward to some down timw – playing outside in the snow, skiing adn reading by the fire.

Would love one of you new beads.

    Happy holidays!

I love the wonky stripes and may have to borrow that if I ever get a space of my own with paintable walls!

I work in a hospital so we are not allowed to take time off from Dec 1-Jan 2- so I don't get to destress from time off! I do spand a lot of time "making," though, and those periods of time are very respiteful for me.

I think it's wonderful that you have a space that is entirely your own! I work full-time in retail so the weeks before Christmas start off pretty stressful. However I usually find that the two weeks before the big day become blessedly calm and filled with love and reflections of family and the good things in life. By the time it's all over with I find myself wishing I could do it all again!

Love your bright cheerful studio. How fun to be able to go to such a place everyday and do what you love.

Holidays are very stressful for me. They start before Thanskgiving and don't end til mid January. We celebrate two Christmas Holidays in December and January. Right now I'm ready to burst at the seams.

I love the bright, happy colors in your new studio, Jennifer! But what an awful time of year to be taking on that project-gah! But who am I to talk? I'm in the middle of a major studio reorganization, plus holiday shows etc. Stressed out? Yes! But once its all done, I will relax during the week between Christmas and New Years. Happy Holidays everyone!

It has actually been a pretty relaxing holiday season. I almost have my studio all set up but it has taken a couple months. Now if only I could find my silk and wires to start putting things together.

Hopefully, this year will not be too stressful. Just calm and enjoying family. My break time is after the holidays and before the new semester starts.

Your new studio looks like a bright happy place to create!! Enjoy it!
This year it has not been too stressful. I have cut back, so there is a bit less to do. I still haven't made the cookies, but I've had a cold, so I need to get better before I attempt anything in the kitchen!
Love the peeks at the new beads – great colors.
