Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you’ll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner. Congratulations Malin de Koning, you won Vintaj chain from Cindy.
Hello, Hello! I feel like it’s been a really long time since it was my Studio Saturday. I tried to look back over the last month to see what I have been working on and wow, a lot has happened. The most exciting thing that has happened is my fabric. It has finally made it into stores. It’s been one of those behind the scenes projects forever, I love that I can talk about it. Even better I can sew with it!
Sewing is what I have been doing, lots and lots of it. Next week I am traveling to Houston to the International Quilt Market. I will have a booth showing my fabrics, buttons, and new patterns. I am super excited to be going because I usually just get to read about it on every ones blogs. This fall I get to experience it. I have been working on sewn projects for the booth. These bags are one of the projects. My sewing projects are multi tasking because they have also become holiday projects, and some will become holiday gifts.
Here’s a photo of one of my new sewing patterns. You can see them all here on my website.
My other big “project” going on in the studio right now is my Holiday Happenings newsletter. Every week I have been sending out newsletters. Here are a couple photos of projects that were sent out. This week the Christmas beads are showing up! I can’t believe it. This leads me to the questions of the week. Have you started working on holiday gifts?
Leave me a comment and you could be chosen to win some holiday beads of you own.
Happy Saturday!

October 23, 2010 at 12:47 pmI have been working on my holiday gifts since January when the yarn I like went on sale at Joann Fabric's. I am knitting scarfs for co-workers and it is a bigger project than I thought it would be. I had to drag mom into my vortex of knitting to get all the scarfs done, but it is well worth it! We still have a few more gifts to make, but I think we are ahead of the game.

Your fabric would look great on one (no hundreds) of my fabric wrapped pendants. It's so joyful.

Your fabric is as bright and vibrant as your lovely beads!
I don't make holiday pieces, but I do promote my jewelry as special gifts for Christmas.
Enjoy the quilt show!

October 23, 2010 at 3:15 pmThose fabrics are gorgeous and so festive! I don't even know how one would go about getting their own fabrics produced — congratulations!
The necklaces are adorable too.

October 23, 2010 at 3:50 pmHi Jennifer,
I'm a quilter too and I LOVE your fabric line. I have never been to the Houston Quilt Festival, but hope to go someday. All my guild friends go.
I have been THINKING about holiday gifts, does that count? I have trouble allocating time to work, home, hubby, hobby, jewelry, etc. At the end of the day I sort of melt into the sofa.
I think I need some Vita-Meata-Vega-Min to give me some vim!

October 23, 2010 at 6:16 pmGah! I have to start thinking about what? And it isn't even Halloween?! No. But I am gearing up for having jewelry in two galleries this season and working on developing my line.
And I will think about other gifts probably at the last minute because of custom orders… I am behind by 4 orders right now!
Thanks for helping me to focus my panic, Jen.
You are a peach.
😉
Enjoy the day!

October 23, 2010 at 9:47 pmI've been so busy building inventory for several retail locations AND a show that I haven't been able to start gifts yet. Hopefully in another two weeks I can make some dishes and some jewelry for specific people. So much to do and so little time!

October 24, 2010 at 5:50 pmLove your new fabric designs!
I, too, have spent more time making Christmas inventory for sale than I have for gifts, though this post has made me realize that some of the pieces I have finished were created with certain friends in mind.
So, could it be that I've actually been gift-making and wasn't aware of it?!
The creative mind is a devious wanderer, at times… Ha!
Thanks so much for this giveaway!

October 24, 2010 at 6:40 pmYour fabrics are great! They would match the kids furniture I used to paint. I usually pick my holiday gifts from projects I have done all year. Though I am thinking of making a couple of pins for my sisters-in-law this year.

October 24, 2010 at 10:40 pmI love your new fabrics, but alas, I am not a seamstress! I am working on having enough inventory for holiday shows, but I haven't focused on gifts yet. Thanks for the kick in the pants, though, because a lot of my gifts have to go overseas and they need to be mailed ASAP!
