Searching for something good to watch in the studio a few weeks ago I stumbled across the new Beauty and the Beast on Netflix. I was familiar with the story of course, but to be honest, never really watched the original animated one and I think I only saw a few episodes of the TV series back in the late 80’s. Well, I got pretty caught up in the beautiful story and amazing special effects. Feeling inspired, I began working on a fairy tale theme. I decided to use specific quotes from the movie that inspired me, but these are my design interpretations of course. You may pick-up on the scene they came from, but in a couple designs, I overlapped more than one scene 😉

I was particularly taken with the icy forest and castle in the story, so I tried to use accent beads in clear for the frost effect. I was excited to find the vintage German glass rings in the first pair, they conveyed the feeling I was trying to get across so well. Also, the white druzy with the jagged edges and glass leaves in the last pair.
As I’ve written previously, inspiration comes from the most unexpected places sometimes…I’m watching a mystery that takes place in the Roaring Twenties …who knows what I will take from that…lol

December 13, 2017 at 3:29 pmYou hit it out of the ballpark again, Loralee! I’m especially smitten with the two pairs with the Foxpaws elements in them. The pair with the butterfly masked people are so dreamy. I’ve been wanting to see that movie… we’ll have to see if it’s still available streaming. Enjoy Miss Fisher’s! She has some fab jewelry and I can totally see you getting inspired by that show!
